Toning Body Serum Q&A

Our skin expert Fiona Brackenbury introduces our Gold Awarded Toning Body Serum:

What is the Toning Body Serum?

A toning, firming body serum designed to targeting hips, thighs, stomach, and upper arms by supporting the skin structure and reducing the appearance of cellulite whilst delivering firmer, smoother skin.

What results should I expect to see whilst using the Toning Body Serum?

Toning Body Serum helps minimize the appearance of cellulite, whilst refining the skin’s texture and reshaping the body contours. It is clinically proven to deliver a reduction in the circumference of the abdomen, waist and upper arms whilst smoothing and firming these areas in just 4 weeks*.

What is cellulite?

It’s believed up to 90% of women experience cellulite, commonly found on the upper thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen and appears often cold to the touch and can be painful when massaged. The visible dimpling or orange-peel look is caused by fat cells pushing into the skins connective tissue.

What are the main causes of cellulite?

Too many fats and sugars in the diet will contribute to cellulite however it is not the only reason, genetics will play a huge part in cellulite and so will the strength and the structure of the skins connective tissue which declines as we age. Poor circulation will reduce the blood flow to the tissues and limit lymphatic drainage all contributing to cellulite.

How can I reduce cellulite?

Diet and exercise are some of the main elements that can make a visible difference to the appearance of cellulite. Body care and massaging the area can elevate the results, drinking more water and dry bodying brushing are all great additions to aid the reduction of cellulite.

How does the Toning Body Serum work?

Created with the understanding of the skin’s make-up, the way the body stores fat and the changes that occur within the deeper layers of the skin that cause it to appear uneven in texture. The Toning Body Serum is packed with powerful ingredients that work on the appearance of cellulite, Mustard Sprout aids the breakdown of lipids (fats) whilst Capsaicin from chilli peppers targets the fat burning process and enhances draining of cellulite tissue.

How does the body break down fat?

Lipogenesis is the storage of fat, consumed sugar and fats are transformed to fat molecules before entering an adipocyte cell (fat cell) where they join together to form a triglyceride which is a lipid molecule too big to leave the cell. When you exercise you break down the triglyceride breaks into smaller molecules so they can leave the fat cell and enter the bloodstream to be used around the body for energy. Your fat cells can store a lot of fat and can swell up to 60 times their size.

What are the differences in the fat cells?

There are three types of fat cells all with a different role to play in the storage and breaking down of fat. White adipocyte (fat cells) is responsible for the storage of the fat to help insulate the body and can stretch up to 60 times their original size. Brown adipocyte cells can break down fat that is stored and convert this into energy however scientific studies shows these fat cells deplete as we grow up. When you are exercising and exposing the body to extreme temperature changes these cells can be activated and start breaking down fat. Beige fat cells can burn calories and boost cell energy and respond to cell communication from skincare actives.

What fat cells does the Toning Body Serum target?

Natural Capsaicin from chilli peppers induces the browning of white adipocytes cells, which in turns stimulates the fat burning process.

How does Toning Body Serum help to reduce the appearance of cellulite, firm and smooth?

During our extensive research, we unearthed the potential of certain actives such as Brassica Alba otherwise known as Yellow Mustard and Capsaicin to influence the white adipocytes fat cells to differentiate into a ‘beige’ adipocyte fat cell which can burn calories to release energy. Thanks to the increase of the fat burning process the skin starts to become smooth, less dimpled and retexturized. The capsaicin energises and stimulates

How do I apply the Toning Body Serum?

Apply in the morning / and or evening with smoothing movements up the legs and thigh working from the ankles upwards, paying extra attention to the hips, thighs and buttocks. Wash hands after application.

Do I need to moisturise after applying the Toning Body Serum?
Thanks to the shea butter and the hyaluronic acid the skin is left soft, supple and hydrated. Hyaluronic acid draws in moisture and shea butter helps to seal in moisture and keep the skin hydrated.

What other tips can help with tackling cellulite?

Avoid taking hot baths, not only is this not good for the skin’s collagen and elastin but it also dehydrates the skin, loss of elasticity and collagen accentuates the look of cellulite.
Avoid sitting cross-legged, the skin’s circulation is already sluggish and crossing your legs restricts the blood flow even more.
Avoid tight clothes that leave a mark on the skin as these are restricting the blood flow.

Can massage help with cellulite?

Massaging the hips and thighs every day, even if it is for 60 seconds will play a huge part in tackling cellulite. Stimulating and increasing your circulation increases oxygen and transports nutrients to the cells and aids the removal of toxins and waste from the cells. Energising the sluggish areas on the body is one of the key ways to tackle cellulite.

What massage techniques help tackle cellulite?

Start at your ankles and move up the body always towards the heart. When applying the Wildsmith Skin Toning Body Serum, particularly to the legs, sit on the side of your bed and apply your body serum with your legs raised and resting on the bed, that way you are not trying to defy gravity and you support your circulation and lymphatic systems.

Can water retention make cellulite worse?

Reduce your salt intake is key as this increases water retention which causes the cellulite to appear more dimpled. Watch out for convenience foods as they have a higher salt content and your body holds onto the water to dilute the salt.
